Back in 2014 we (freely) advised to stay away from the iCommerceRegistry of the Gambia. The website is still online but the content is gone with only this red message: “Due to current technical duties iCommerceRegistry is unable to accept any new agents at this time“. In August 2016: Streber published an announcement from the Ministry of Justice of the Gambia confirming the illegitimate operation (this press release is a dead link today).

The iCommerceRegistry adventure lasted 2 years (very short!). This is probably what happened (which is common across Africa):

• maybe the start of operation was legit, but the Gambia (corrupt) bureaucrats decided to cut them off after a disagreement
• any agreement with the Gambian government (either oral or written) hindi maaaring ipatupad sa anumang paraan, kaya kinailangang isara ang operasyon
• walang pakialam ang gobyerno ng Gambian sa kanilang reputasyon, o tungkol sa sinumang dayuhang mamumuhunan.

Huwag isipin na ang daliri ay nakaturo sa Africa, maraming kanluraning hurisdiksyon ay hindi rin modelo ng katatagan (tingnan ang listahan sa ibaba).

Bilang isang entrepreneur: Gusto mo talagang lumayo sa mga nasabing hurisdiksyon at pumunta sa mga matatag na may kasaysayan at magandang track record.

Sa ganoong kahulugan, hindi inirerekomenda ang mga hurisdiksyon na iyon:

• ang Gambia
• Liberia: napakasama na ng reputasyon, pero may mas malala pa: sa 2016 ang economic freedom index ranking nito ay 143, kahit na namumuhunan sa Comoros (niraranggo 141) o ang Gambia (niraranggo 119) ay hindi gaanong peligroso!
• Iceland: bangkarota
• Cyprus: bangkarota
• Ukraine: sumalakay
• France: punong puno ng kayamanan.
